Curtain Raiser Workshop on and Inauguration of Agriculture Governance Cell in CGG

In line with CGG’s mandate of helping Andhra Pradesh achieve goal of Transforming Governance, it is proposed to start an 'Agriculture Governance Cell' within CGG, primarily to facilitate ‘Design, Implement, Monitor and Evaluate’ (DIME) partnerships between Government of Andhra Pradesh and expert agencies in the field of Agriculture.

To start with, it is proposed that the Cell will design and implement pilot projects to augment the incomes of farmers, while sustaining productivity enhancements and transition to a commercial orientation. The Cell envisages playing a strategic role in the restructuring of Centrally Sponsored schemes for agriculture, in order to make them more appropriate, keeping in view the agro-ecological situations.

To share the proposal with and solicit suggestions from a wide range of experts, we are holding a Curtain Raiser Workshop on the Cell, at Dr. MCR HRD Institute of A.P., Road No.25, Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad on August 25, 2011 starting at 11am. Shri Damodar Raja Narasimha, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and Minister for Agriculture (I/c) has kindly agreed to inaugurate the workshop. Senior officials of Government of India as well as Government of Andhra Pradesh and representatives from NDDB, ICRISAT, CRIDA, SLBC, NIRD and NGOs will participate in the workshop.
