India celebrated the Civil Services Day on 21st April 2009 when civil servants rededicate themselves to the cause of citizens and renew their commitment to public service. The Hon’ble Vice President of India inaugurated the function and the Cabinet secretary gave the welcome address. Address by the Chief justice and the Vice President was followed by panel discussion on topical issues. Centre for Good Governance prepared the theme paper on ‘Performance management in government’ for panel discussion as DAR&PG’s knowledge partner. Theme paper on ‘Civil Services: accountability to people was prepared by Centre for policy Research as DAR&PG’s knowledge partner. The function concluded with the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration 2007-08 and vote of thanks by Secretary (Administrative Reforms & Pensions)
