CGG in tripartite Governance Meet at Dhaka :
25th to 27th November 2008.
 
 

Dr. Rajiv Sharma, Director General (CGG) signed an Aide Memoire with the Institute On Governance (IOG) Ottawa, Canada and Institute of Governance Studies (IGS) BRAC University, Dhaka, Bangladesh on 27th November 2008 at Dhaka.  Mr Paul Ledwell, President, IOG, Canada and Dr. Manzoor Hasan, Director IGS, Bangladesh were the other signatories of the Aide Memoire. 
The event was preceded by three day deliberations from 25th to 27th November, 2008 with experts & faculty members at IGS. Ms Kathleen Lauder, Senior Associate of IOG coordinated the programme. Dr Salehuddin Ahmed, Pro Vice Chancellor, BRAC University and Dr Rizwan Khair, Academic Coordinator IGS also participated.
On 27th November a large session with International institutions & development agencies was held to facilitate wider consultations on various aspects of the proposed network.
The Purpose of the meeting was to launch an “Institution of Democratic Governance International Network” (IDG-Network) to enhance the capacity of institutions worldwide in promoting democratic governance through information sharing and cooperation.
A detailed schedule of activities was worked out starting from January 2009 to Oct 2009, in addition to the activities already underway, by assigning specific responsibilities to the above three participating institutions.
The role of CGG over the next few months is developing a Web Site, preparing an ‘E –Learning interactive course on Governance’, formulating a methodology for preparing and posting on the Web Site a “State of Governance Report” and implementing the ‘Leadership and Governance course’ in India.
