The University, initially known as Andhra Pradesh Open University, was set up on 26th August 1982 through an Act of the A.P. State Legislature (APOU Act 1982). Subsequently, the University was renamed as Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University on 26 October 1991 by the Government of Andhra Pradesh. All the programmes offered by the University are recognized by the University Grants Commission, New Delhi.
As part of the automation initiative CGG provided technical support to develop and implement modules related to Entrance Test Registrations and data processing; Admissions and Student Support Services such as ID card issuance, Course Material distribution, Data corrections, Study Centre Management, Online & Offline classes, Grievance addressing system, Dashboard, and Interaction system for Faculty-Student interaction; and the Pre-Exam process, Post-Examination Process, Results processing, and Convocation services.
