Project : Comprehensive Registration of Pesticides (CROP)

User Department(s):

Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India

Project Brief:

Comprehensive Registration of Pesticides (CROP) and Plant Quarantine Management System (PQMS) are applications designed and developed for Plant Protection Division, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare, GoI. These online portals help to build on the “Ease of Doing Business” for the agrochemical and food processing industries and enhance speedy registration and availability of vital crop protection solutions for the farmers in India.

CROP is a web-based e-governance solution that integrates pesticide registration processes. It plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, effectiveness, and regulatory compliance of pesticides used in agriculture throughout the country. The failure of the project could have serious consequences for the agriculture industry, including the risk of using unsafe or ineffective pesticides. The project involves scrutiny by officials from CIB&RC, the issuance of registration certificates with digital signatures, as well as the tracking and monitoring of application status with alerts. As a result, the project must comply with various regulatory requirements and standards, such as those related to data privacy, security, and quality control.
