Project : Online Property Tax Application

Project Brief:

Property Tax is one of the main sources of revenue for Urban Local Bodies such as GHMC. Residential and Non-residential (Commercial) properties, situated within the limits of an ULB, are assessed for tax, based on such assessments, taxes are levied on the property owners.
Some of the important functions of GHMC w.r.t Property Tax include 

  • Generate Property Tax for the properties across GHMC’s jurisdiction
  • Collect Property Tax across the GHMC’s jurisdiction
  • Issues notices to the property owners for non-payment of the Property Tax
  • Give timely offers to Property Owners for payment of their Property Tax, For instance, 5 percent rebate on Property Tax, Lucky Draws

 Around 12.29 lakh structures of Residential properties 

 Rs 394 crore on Residential properties

 Rs 867.65 crore  on Non-Residential properties 

 Rs 58.40 crore on Mixed properties     

CGG developed the ‘’Online Property Tax Application’’ for GHMC through which property tax assessment, calculation and payment can be made online. Tax assessments, issuing a special notice, issue of annual demand notices and receipts are all computerized through this application. The “Online Property Tax Application” can be accessed from three different service delivery channels,

1) GHMC Website
2) Citizen Service Centers
3) My GHMC Mobile App                                  

For citizens, the introduction of this system reduces the burden of standing in long queues for payment (at Mee-Seva, Circle Offices, Citizen Service Centres etc ) and saves the time of property owners/citizens and further provides transparency and swiftness to work

Benefits/uses of the application

  • Handheld machines of Bill Collectors are integrated to the central server
  • All Mee-Seva Centres and Citizen Service Centres (CSC) in GHMC limits are integrated into the system
  • Online modes of payment like NEFT and RTGS are available with 537 branches of 8 banks
  • Payment of more than 15+ lakh properties till date
  • More than 1000 transactions daily
  • New Assessments, Assessment Revisions, Vacancy Remission and Exemption of tax for Ex-Servicemen
  • Cheque bounce mechanism
  • Generate/Prepare MIS reports for Officials of GHMC
