Mr. Rajendra Nimje joined Centre for Good Governance (CGG) as Director General in December 2016. He is a career civil servant from Indian Administrative Service. He has over 37 years of professional experience in the field of Public Administration, e-Governance, Energy & Infrastructure. During his long career span, he has provided leadership to public and private sector organizations of various sizes, cultures and different kind of businesses creating a unique blend of experience.
As part of Indian Administrative Service officer, he has worked in different departments like Revenue, Municipal Administration, Technical Education, Excise, GAD Elections etc. As the District Collector in Khammam District, he conceived and launched many e-Governance initiatives. Notable among them were ‘Parishkruti’ a comprehensive public grievance redressal system, ‘Giri-Pragna’ for computer education to tribal boys and girls in remotest parts of the district, ‘e-Immunization’ and ‘Health Call Centre’ for addressing health and emergency needs of the district.
Mr. Nimje holds Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics & Power in 1981 from VRCE (now National Institute of Technology), Nagpur; Master of Technology in Communication Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai in 1983 and Digital Vision Fellowship in e-Governance from Stanford University, USA in 2004. He did his Bachelor of Law, Diploma in Business Management and Diploma in German Language from Nagpur University during 1984-87.
His areas of interest include organizational reforms & ‘e-Governance’ with a focus on service delivery to the remotest stake holder; Energy Generation & Distribution, Solar energy development through ground mounted MW power plants and reaching rural households through solar rooftops; Infrastructure Development, Technical Education and Urban Governance & Finance.
Mr. Nimje also had an opportunity to lead the National Solar Mission as the first Managing Director of Govt. of India, Schedule A- Public Sector Enterprise – ‘Solar Energy Corporation of India’. He was instrumental in conceiving and grounding various schemes and solutions to ramp up ‘Solarization’ of the country. He has initiated Solar Parks in the state of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, which later was incorporated as GoI scheme for 26 states and UT for 25000 MW. The first VGF based scheme of 750 MW was successfully launched and Rooftop program for 25 cities in the country was put on a fast track. Under his leadership, SECI has emerged as the pivotal organization of National Solar Mission which contributed substantially to the development plan of 100,000 MW of solar power in India.
Mr. Nimje received awards and recognition for his works. Notable among them were the prestigious ‘Social e-Challenge’ Award 2004 from Stanford University, USA; National e-Governance Awards in 2006 for ‘e-Immunization’ and for ‘Health Call Centre’ projects; National e-Governance Awards in 2021 for Mana Isuka Vahanam (My Sand Vehicle). His projects reached the category of ‘Finalist’ in Stockholm Challenge Awards, Sweden. These projects are ‘e-Hyderabad’ in 2002; ‘Giri Pragna’ in 2006 and ‘Parishkruthi’ in 2006 & in 2008.
In Centre for Good Governance (CGG), as the Director General, he has strengthened the organisation and is continuously guiding in promoting administrative reforms and transformational governance, (which is the wp-content mandate of CGG), drawing from his wp-content strengths to tackle organizational challenges and his experience in Public Administration & Governance. He has put together plans, processes, systems, people and infrastructure to scale up to the next level. This is also reflected in the organisations exponential growth in the recent past.
Under his able guidance and leadership, CGG is associated with path breaking assignments for Govt. of India and for various State Governments such as Design and Development of Good Governance Index and Grievance Redressal Assessment & Index for DARPG, GoI, Formulation of Telangana State Agriculture Policy(Draft), Farm Viability Centric Interventions in Agriculture and Allied Sectors, Capacity Building Plans for seven Ministries/Departments, Monitoring, Evaluation & Impact studies & Child Budgeting for UNICEF.
In the eGovernance Division of CGG, he has been the guiding force behind nearly 200 applications, of which the notable ones are Cabinet Resolutions Monitoring System; Comprehensive Registration of Pesticides (CROP) and Plant Quarantine Management System (PQMS); Computerisation of Telangana & AP Legislature; Degree Online Services Telangana (DOST); Ease of Doing Business solution for 15 User Departments; Electronic Payment and Application System for Scholarships (ePASS); eMunicipal, Telangana; Integrated Examination and Result Processing Solution for TSBIE; IT Solution to GHMC; Online Beneficiary Management & Monitoring System; Online Procurement Management System (OPMS) Online Recruitment and Admission Processing; Te-Poll (Election Management System); TS Mana Isuka Vahanam (MIV, My Sand Vehicle).
Mr. Nimje has been the front-runner in the adoption of e-Governance in the country and deployed many projects in diverse fields; and presently he is also one of the first few bureaucrats in the country who is embracing new technologies and the digital revolution such as Block Chain, Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI), to act as the next wave of growth drivers.
It is worth mentioning here that his leadership, guidance and continuous motivation has been instrumental in CGG being honoured with National eGovernance Awards 2021, Digital India Award 2018, Telangana State Democracy Award 2019, CSI Nihilent e-Governance Awards – in 2017, 2018, 2020, 2022 and Skoch Smart Governance Awards for four of its e-Governance projects; and CGG being certified with CMMi Level 3 and ISO 9001:2015 & ISO 27001:2013 certifications.
