Description
Andhra Pradesh Forest Department (APFD) managers the forest conversation, protection and development activities in the state of Andhra Pradesh. It was proposed that a study on the best practices in the neighbouring states be carried out to implement the same in the State of Andhra Pradesh to meet its objectives of effective and efficient forest management. The project was assigned to Centre for Good Governance, Hyderabad and a rapid study was carried out accordingly.
The study included interactions with a cross-section of APFD officials in select Divisions, Visits to the neighbouring states for observation of related policies and practices, consultations with the expert institutions such as IIFM, Bhopal and secondary data study.
The Structural Reorganization part of the study report was prepared by this Resource Group covering the as-is situation in AP and other study states, observations on the organization structures, deployment of IFS, SFS and SFSS officers and also key suggestions on structural reorganization and a few HRM related issues. The draft report was submitted to the department and is also proposed to be presented in a state level workshop. Based on the feedback coming out of this workshop, the Final Report will be prepared and submitted.
