A Leader, A Visionary, A Legacy: Farewell Tribute to Shri Rajendra Nimje, DG, CGG
Words fall short today…
As we bid farewell to Shri Rajendra Nimje, IAS (Retd.), Director General, CGG, we pause to reflect on an extraordinary journey that has not only shaped this organisation but also left an indelible mark on the governance landscape of Telangana. His contributions are so vast that even a book would fall short of capturing the depth, scale, and impact of his work.
Over the last nine years, Shri Nimje has transformed CGG into a powerhouse of innovation and reform. He strengthened systems, processes, infrastructure, and people — creating an organisation ready to scale to the next level. Under his stewardship, CGG has witnessed exponential growth, firmly establishing itself as a national leader in governance transformation.
A true techno-bureaucrat, he was always ahead of the curve, pioneering the adoption of cutting-edge technologies and giving new dimensions to over 150 e-Governance applications. From business process re-engineering to last-mile citizen service delivery, his vision touched every corner of society. He championed mobile-first solutions, set up Center of Excellence for Emerging Technologies — Cloud, AI, ML, Blockchain, Data Analytics, IoT — and envisaged their potential to revolutionise governance, improve efficiency, and bring services closer to citizens.
His forward-looking strategy also expanded the Knowledge & Research vertical, enabling CGG to move from nomination-based projects to competitive engagements, venture into new geographies — even the remotest regions of the North East — and explore new domains. By introducing statistical tools, mobile apps, and innovative practices, he made governance not only smarter but also more cost-effective.
The recognition CGG earned during his tenure is a testament to his leadership: National e-Governance Awards, Digital India Awards, Telangana State Democracy Award, and international standards like CMMi Level 3, ISO 9001:2015, and ISO 27001:2013 certifications.
But Shri Nimje’s legacy is far greater than awards and technology. He nurtured a culture of inclusivity, professionalism, and care. He gave CGG a corporate edge within government — from world-class infrastructure, modern workspaces, and wellness facilities to a KPI-driven culture of accountability. And yet, he remained approachable to all — from gardener to technologist. His pioneering “Meet Your DG” initiative exemplified his humility, empathy, and open-door leadership.
As we warmly welcome Shri Ravi Gupta, IPS into this role, we carry forward the torch of transformation lit by Shri Nimje — inspired by his vision, guided by his values, and grateful for his unmatched contributions.
Thank you, Sir, for redefining governance through innovation, for building CGG into what it is today, and for showing us what visionary leadership truly means.
