Telangana Formation Day Celebrations: Celebrating Telangana Through Traditional Attire
As part of the Telangana Formation Day celebrations at CGG, a Traditional Attire Competition was organized to showcase the rich cultural heritage, traditions, and diversity of Telangana.
Employees enthusiastically participated by presenting Telangana-inspired traditional attire and sharing the cultural significance of the characters, traditions, and themes they portrayed before Sri Ravi Gupta, Executive Vice Chairman & Director General, CGG, and the senior management team.
Participants from across departments creatively represented Telangana’s rich cultural heritage through their attire and presentations, portraying iconic symbols, traditions, and personalities such as Telangana Thalli, Bonalu Pothuraju, women carrying traditional Bonam offerings, Rani Rudrama Devi, Telangana farmers, folk and classical dancers, and men in traditional pancha dhoti attire. The participants also showcased vibrant representations of the Bathukamma festival and the Koya tribal community in traditional tribal attire, highlighting the diversity, cultural richness, and enduring traditions that define Telangana’s unique identity.
1. In the Best Traditional Attire category, the first prize was awarded to Mr. Praveen Polaboina for his portrayal of Pothuraju, the fearless guardian and brother of Goddess Mahankali, symbolizing strength, courage, and protection during Telangana’s Bonalu festival.
2. The second prize was awarded to Ms. Santhoshi Ganthala for her graceful portrayal of Perini Shivatandavam, Telangana’s ancient martial dance dedicated to Lord Shiva and popularly known as the "Dance of Warriors.
3. The third prize was jointly awarded to Ms. Vijaya Pavani Panchaparvala for her portrayal of Rani Rudrama Devi, the legendary Kakatiya queen renowned for her courage, leadership, and contribution to Telangana’s history, and Ms. Tejasri Kasu for representing Telangana Thalli, the symbolic embodiment of the state's identity, culture, heritage, and aspirations.
Beyond celebrating Telangana Formation Day, the event brought employees together to celebrate Telangana’s rich cultural heritage, fostering a spirit of unity, pride, and camaraderie across the organization.
